For new residential construction,
the use of concrete drilled caissons is
an economical solution. A
combination of Caissons and
reinforced footings are used
to extend the footing support
through the unsuitable bearing
soils down to the soils that
can provide the required support
needed. Hoidas Engineering
uses a combination of 18-inch
and 24-inch diameter round
concrete caissons for
this system. The use of this
type of deep foundation system
reduces the amount of concrete
used verses excavating the
entire footing down to the
bearing soils and filling the
entire trench with concrete.

through the roof the last 12
to 18 months! A proper
designed and installed foundation
is important in the construction
of a new home. Dealing
with a settling foundation
following the construction
of a new home is a very expensive

While on-site installing a concrete
caissons deep foundation system,

piles , if
it is determined that timber
piles are the better alternative
due to the actual encountered
soil and ground water conditions. This
will reduce down time for re-engineering
and remobilization of a timber
pile installation
company, which can takes weeks. Soil
conditions do vary on-site and
need to be evaluated during the
construction operation. The
